Securing Profiles with Pins

Contents

Pins are 4-digit codes that can be set to prevent a family member from accessing your profile without permission. It is most often used when small children are sharing a device or when they are using a parent’s device to access their profile.

Why would I want to use a pin?

Pins are great for parents who want to share their device with their small children. A pin allows a child access to their Linked profile on a parent’s device while preventing them from accessing the parent’s profile.

Pins also make it possible for children to share the same device using a parent’s profile. A parent signs into their profile on the shared device and secures their profile with a pin. Each child can then access their Linked profile on this device. Children can also set a pin on their own account to prevent siblings from accessing their profile.

How do I create a pin?

Go to Settings, then open the General section and find Pin at the bottom of it. Select Set and verify your password, then you will be able to set a 4-digit pin. Now, whenever someone attempts to access this profile, it will ask for the pin.

(Note: Linked users will need the Parent to verify their password to create or adjust a child’s pin; this is to prevent children from changing each other’s pins.)

How do I remove my pin?

Go to Settings, then open the General section and find Pin at the bottom of it. Select Remove and verify your password to remove your pin.

I forgot my pin! What do I do?

On the pin page, there is an option to unlock with your password (or a Parent password in the case of a Linked user). Once logged in, follow the instructions above to remove the pin, then set a new one.

    How secure are pins?

Pins are not encrypted and are not intended to be high security. The primary purpose for pins is to allow multiple users to share a device and to keep Linked users out of the Parent profile.
